About Me

I was originally born and raised in Winter Park, CO. I have always been a competitive athlete, originally moving my way through life as a competitive ski racer. Skiing was my focus through high school competing well on a national level and well-ranked among my age on a worldwide level.  During those years, I began to dabble in MTB racing during the summers as cross/dryland training.
In my college years I gave up skiing to travel and serve in other ways and also was not around biking much. I picked up running to do something active again!  I ended up running some marathons including Pikes Peak Marathon, which made me realized I always have and will do better in the dirt.  I also started getting on my bike again and remembered how much I loved it! My husband convinced me to do some adventure races with him and we did a few in 2005. I really enjoyed the multisport challenge and had always wanted to give triathlon a try; however, I already knew I liked being on a mountain bike and there was no way I was going to enter a road tri on a mountain bike (I am way too competitive for that). During 2006 I ended doing a solo adventure race and had a blast, shortly after was when I discovered that there were off-road triathlons!!  I began entering local Winter Park Mountain Bike races again in 2007 and had a blast and decided to go for it and try this Xterra stuff. I did my first one and was hooked. So, I figured out how this all worked and was ready to give a season of racing in the Xterra tour a go in 2008! I entered my first race early season only to find out 2 days later that I was pregnant! With that surprise, my attempt at getting into Xterra was effectively put on hold for another season.

My official start into XTERRA and back into Mountain biking came in summer of 2009 after my daughter, Ashlyn was born.  I have been steadily trying to improve over the course of my seasons racing and in 2013 I had some great races. In October I became a 2013 age group World Champion at XTERRA in Maui. Currently, I enjoy mountain bike racing in the semi-Pro category throughout the season with a focus toward XTERRRA (off-road triathlon). You might say I am a mountain biker with a triathlon problem.

I am constantly balancing life as an aspiring elite athlete and being a wife and mother. I have worked hard to get to a high level of racing after having a kid and I love seeing other moms and women get out and do what they love. I also love seeing my 5-year-old develop her own interests. She has already done her first couple triathlons because she was just so enthusiastic about it!
